A domain
name is your address on the world wide web. It's the information
that starts with (www) that clients type in to their web browsers to
find your website. The domain name for this site is
www.AssumeDomain.com.
A
domain name can be any combination of letters and/or numbers up to 67
characters. The official domain name extensions are .com, .net,
.org, .biz, .info, .us and .ws. There are also other extensions
like .tv and .tk and more, but no need to waist your time with them.
There appears to be some disagreement
about whether a long or short domain name is better. You will have to
draw your own conclusions as there is no answer other then what you
believe or find to be relevant.
Many argue that shorter domain names are
easier to remember. While others argue that a longer domain name is
usually easier to remember. For example, "BRPS.com" is a sequence of
unrelated letters that is difficult to remember and type correctly,
whereas if we transform it to its real name, "BocaRatonProcessServer.com",
we are more likely to remember the domain name.
These and other arguments have no answers
and simply a matter of taste or opinion. As time progresses its becoming
impossible to obtain short meaningful domain names.
Though a short and sensible domain is
preferable, we like long domain names that have keywords in them. Full
name domain names also have an advantage as they rank better in search
engines and are easy to find by the average internet surfer.
